The World and I Belong to Each Other

I believe I was born to know the world.

At six, I ignored Barbie dolls. I preferred to grab my walking stick, army knife and an apple, unleash Princesse, my mutt, and head into the deep woods―  a narrow patch of roughly cleared forest between our property and the Ottawa River. There I rendez-voued with my hero Daniel Boone to trap the porc-epic (porcupine) that had been terrorizing my dog. To me Daniel Boone was as Canadian as I was.
